Project Information
Delivery Projects are operational projects. They involve the installation or upgrade of one or more of the Airwide Solutions products that have been released to operations from the R&D division of the company following the completion of testing and productisation.
Delivery projects involve often customized software development to enable the required functionality within the customer environment. While customized development is managed as part of development activity, Delivery Project Manager needs to be managing possible customer facing aspects of the development phase ensuring the deliverables will be satisfying customer needs. Such aspects are for example requirement clarifications and changes of scope during customized development.
Systems are sold on hardware configurations pre-defined by the platform manager and purchasing of that hardware is carried out via our supply logistics co-ordinator from established suppliers. The delivery services manager allocates resources to projects from the pool of engineers. On completion of a delivery project, the system is handed to support and support management take responsibility for the system.
Installation projects
The delivery engineer will install the third party products and the Airwide Solutions software products on the purchased hardware and configure it according to the customer requirements. (This is at Airwide Solutions office or on occasions at the customer site). Once the system has been shipped to site, the standalone acceptance tests are run and then the system is integrated within the network, other Airwide Solutions systems and other interfaces as appropriate.
Upgrade projects
These involve moving a customer from one version of our products to a later version. This may involve adding additional hardware. The project manager will be involved in agreeing the technical upgrade process and the engineer will then prepare a detailed upgrade plan in line with this. The engineer will prepare and configure the updated version of the product and install the new software on site according to the pre-agreed upgrade plan. Testing will then be carried out to verify the new software.
Both types of project require the project manager to have a high level technical understanding of the products at both the functional and operational level. This allows technical discussions regarding the various the configuration options and the impacts of those options. It also allows the right technical input to be obtained from other departments when necessary. A technical services team are available to provide more detailed technical information and support to the project team when required.
