London, UK December 4, 2007 - Mobile industry experts gathered on December 4, 2007 to celebrate the 15th birthday of the text message and to debate how SMS will evolve in the future. The two certainties about the billions of mobile subscribers worldwide today is that they can make calls and text people, according to Kevin Wood, chief executive of Airwide Solutions, which hosted the celebrations.
"From humble beginnings we couldn't possibly have known the impact it would have on communications... It has fundamentally changed the way the world communicates. 15 years is a long time, yet SMS is still quite a young technology," he said.
