Board Members

Ted Mocarski

Ted brings 17 years of investment and legal experience to Key Venture Partners with a focus on communications, data services and information technology businesses. Ted currently serves as a board member of XyEnterprise and OpSource, Kasenna, and Airwide Solutions.

Ted joined the firm in 2003. Previously, Ted was a Managing Director at Nautic Partners and Fleet Equity Partners, where he was responsible for leading the funds' investment efforts in the communications and IT industries. Ted was either the lead or an early investor in a number of companies, which generated significant returns for its investors, including Exodus Communications, Dobson Communicatios, FairPoint Communications, and Verio. Prior to this, Ted was an attorney with Edwards & Angell, where he represented several venture capital and private equity firms.

Ted holds a B.A. from Colby College and a J.D. from American University.

 

Vinit Nijhawan

Vinit Nijhawan brings over 20 years experience in technology start-ups to Airwide Solutions. Vinit was president and Chief Executive Officer of Taral Networks prior to the acquisition of Schlumberger Messaging by Taral Networks.

Vinit was the founder, president, and chairman of the board of Kinetic Computer Corporation. Kinetic's wireless mobile computer product line was sold to Telxon (now part of Symbol Technologies) and Qualcomm acquired Kinetic's eTruck intellectual property. Previously, Vinit was vice president and chief operating officer at Payload Aystems, Inc. and Marketing & Sales Director for Cal Corp., (now part of EMS).

Vinit has participated in over 75 panel discussions and paper presentations about mobile and wireless technologies. He is also involved in the messaging action team for the CTIA's Wireless Internet Caucus.

Vinit earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada.

Mike Pehl

Mike Pehl, a seasoned software entrepreneur, assists Advent in sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities in the enterprise software and services sector. He is also involved on the boards and in the daily operations of Advent portfolio companies, having worked closely with Aspen Technology, RedPrairie, Demantra, MTI Technology, Open Service, PowerSteering and Ultimus to help leverage their potential.

Mike has more than 20 years of experience forming, managing and successfully exiting information technology companies. Prior to working with Advent, he was president and COO of Razorfish Inc., which he joined in 1999 following the merger of Razorfish and iCube. Mike was chairman and CEO of i-Cube from 1996 to 1999 and successfully took the company public in 1998. Prior to i-Cube, he founded and spearheaded International Consulting Solutions (ICS), an SAP implementation and business process consultancy, which he sold to Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group. Mike was also one of a team of four that established SAP America.

In 1994, Mike received the Entrepreneur of the Year award, sponsored by Ernst & Young, Merrill Lynch and Inc. Magazine, in recognition for his business achievements.

Saurabh Srivastava

Saurabh Srivastava focuses on early-stage technology investments in systems and software. As a Partner of Artiman Ventures, he is currently on the boards of airwide Solutions, SiOptical, Kasenna, OpSource and Ortiva Wireless.

Prior to joining Artiman in 2000, Saurabh was a Director of Mergers and Acquisitions for Cisco Systems' Corporate Business Development group, where he led the technology strategy for VoIP and wireless mobility teams, focusing on Cisco's technology and acquisition strategies in the voice-over IP, wireless/mobility and VPN areas. At Cisco he led 18 acquisitions and 10+ investments.

Before joining Cisco, Saurabh worked part time for Philips while completing Stanford's MBA program. At Philips, he worked with a group that created the venture funding arm of Philips in the US. Prior to that, for almost eight years, Saurabh held various operating roles from engineering to engineering management, marketing and pre-sales at Silicon Graphics, Inc., Kaleida Labs and Digital Equipment Corp.

He also holds two patents for networking protocol technologies.
Education: Saurabh holds a B.S.E.E. from BITS, India, an M.S.C.S. from SUNY @ Stony Brook and an MBA from Stanford University, where he was an Arjay Miller scholar.

Lou Volpe

Prior to joining Kodiak, Lou was President, Chief Operating Officer and Director of ArrowPoint Communications where he was responsible for all of ArrowPoint's functional organizations and focused on managing worldwide operations to achieve company growth objectives. ArrowPoint had a successful IPO in March 2000 and was acquired by Cisco Systems for $5.5 billion in June 2000. Lou is a board member of Azimuth Systems, CXO Systems, Egenera, GTESS, IE-Engine, IMlogic, RulesPower, sentitO Networks and Airwide Solutions.

Prior to joining ArrowPoint, Lou was Senior Vice President Worldwide Sales & Marketing and a member of the Board of GeoTel Communications, which was acquired by Cisco Systems in June 1999. He joined GeoTel early in its development stage and was a major contributor in building its worldwide sales and marketing presence. He was also instrumental in guiding the company through its IPO and eventual $2 billion acquisition. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Operations for Parametric Technology Corporation from 1989 to 1994. Before Parametric, he was an executive at Prime Computer. Lou has been an active investor and board member of a number of companies including Atria (acquired by Pure) and Softdesk (acquired by Autodesk).

Lou holds a B.A. from Tufts University and an M.B.A from Boston University.

Will Wilcoxson

Mr. Wilcoxson has over thirteen years of venture capital and private equity investment experience. Prior to joining Axiom, Mr. Wilcoxson was a General Partner of Claflin Capital Management in Boston where he specialized in early-stage information technology companies.

Mr. Wilcoxson was an early member of Internet Capital Group's investment team. He began his venture capital career with Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation. Mr. Wilcoxson spent three years with GE Capital's Corporate Finance Group, where he focused on later-stage private equity investments in manufacturing, distribution and communications companies. He began his career in General Electric's Financial Management Program.

Mr. Wilcoxson earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from St. Lawrence University and Masters in Management from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.

Kevin A. Wood

Kevin A. Wood has more than 15 years of experience in technology companies. Before joining Airwide Solutions, Kevin was the founder and president of Wood & Company, LLC an advisory and investment firm focusing on emerging growth companies in high technology.

Prior to founding Wood & Company, Kevin was the President, Americas for Comverse Network Systems, a division of Comverse Technology (CMVT). Kevin had been with Comverse, and a predecessor company Boston Technology, for 12 years in a variety of senior sales, marketing and general management roles playing a critical role in the company's revenue growth from the company's first few million to over $1.2 billion.

Kevin is a graduate with distinction from George Washington University and the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was a Sloan Fellow. Additionally, he has completed extensive executive education at Georgetown University and Harvard Business School.

Wood serves on the board of advisors of several emerging growth companies in the communications industry including Soma Network as well as on the Advisory Board of the New England Hi-Tech Charity Foundation
